Forget Under Armour and Nike, Adidas is the big winner at US Open 2015

If you are a fan of Roger Federer or Andy Murray, then you did not like the final men's result at the US Open. Andy Murray is sponsored by Under Armour, and Roger Federer is a Nike endorser. Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in the men's final, and Novak wears Adidas shoes. Novak won his second US Open title, and he will end the year at #1 in men's rankings. Novak tired out the Swiss Maestro, and Roger converted on four of twenty three break point chances only. As for the ladies final, it was an all Italian one with Flavia Pennetta defeating Roberta Vinci. Flavia beat Simona Halep, the #2 women's seed; and Vinci beat Serena Williams in the semifinals. In the battle of Italian friends, Flavia won the match in two sets with her Adidas Stella McCartney Barricade sneakers. Vinci denied Serena in the semifinals the chance to win the calendar grand slam, in a shocking three set defeat. In Pennetta's second round match, a drone crashed into the seats. Pennetta survived this eccentric ordeal, and won her first US Open title five matches later. As for the footwear battles, Adidas is moving forward in other sports like the NFL. Recently, the German shoe producer signed Aaron Rodgers (the Super Bowl winning QB from Green Bay). DeMarco Murray, Jimmy Graham, and Vonn Miller are Adidas endorsers too. James Harden of the NBA Houston Rockets signed with Adidas, but Adidas has a very small share of NBA shoe market. Hopefully, more NBA stars will join Adidas in upcoming years. As a final thought, hope you enjoy the picture of Flavia Pennetta and Fabio Fognini. Fognini beat Rafael Nadal at US Open in the third round, in a brilliant comeback. Fognini is the fiance of Flavia too. Pennetta announced that she would be retiring at the end of 2015, during her US Open trophy acceptance speech. Great way to end a good career!
