With his 23rd grand slam victory, Novak will return to the #1 ranking. Djokovic has won the most grand slam titles, at twenty-three. Rafael Nadal did not play in the French Open, due to a hip injury which has failed to heal. Nadal is expected to need five months to recover from arthroscopic surgery, for a left hip flexor injury. Furthermore, Nadal turned 37 years of age on June 3. He has declared 2024 as his final season, on the tour. Since he had the surgery in early June 2023, Nadal will miss the rest of the 2023 tennis season. The surgery was performed in Barcelona by Canadian doctor Marc Phillippon.
