When you think of Pierre Omidyar, the omnipresent EBay is one of his successful business ventures. Two other triumphant ventures were First Look Media and the Omidyar Network. First Look Media is an US based Nonprofit media organization, which Pierre founded in October 2013 dedicated to independent, investigative journalism. Pierre is a French born, Iranian American Billionaire. Pierre is married to Pamela Kerr, and both of them are Tufts University graduates. Pamela and Pierre have three adoring, adult children. Next, the Omidyar Network has received over $1.5 billion in impact investments and nonprofits, focusing on areas like human trafficking and journalism. This $1.5-$2 billion investment is primarily from the deep pockets of Pamela and Pierre. Omidyar Network is involved in for-profit investments and philanthropic grants, aiming to create both social impact and financial returns. Omidyar Network has a hybrid structure that includes a Limited Liability Company (LLC) with a private philanthropic foundation. The LLC enables Omidyar Network to invest in innovative startups that improve the overall well-being, potential, and quality of life globally while building responsible digital technologies.
